Minnesota
The People of His Presence Conference in Hutchinson, Minnesota, held 23-26, was a life-changing event for everyone involved. I love it when I go somewhere to minister and I end up getting ministered to! I spoke four times there and saw awesome breakthroughs.
** I spoke the first night on entering the new season that God is bringing to the church. The people at Riverside Assembly of God are hungry to move into the new things of the Spirit. I was so blessed by Pastor Max Meyers—a man who does not want to stay behind in the old paradigms. This church is poised for a move of God.
** On the second night I spoke on the four levels of the Spirit described in Ezekiel 47. I challenged the people not to go halfway but to become fully immersed in the Lord in four ways: (1) uninhibited praise; (2) overflowing love; (3) bold proclamation; and (4) radical sacrifice. As I shared reports of what God is doing in India, Ukraine, China and Africa these people came unglued. After I prophesied over some people we had an outbreak of dancing that lasted more than half an hour. Minnesotans can be quite reserved because of their Scandinavian heritage, but I explained that our ethnic heritage should not be allowed to hinder our worship.
** One woman from the church shared a testimony with me later. She said she had never been able to dance before… “not until you taught us to dance this past weekend! And it was so easy because of the JOY! Thank you! It's a gift that will go with me for the rest of my life!”
** On Saturday I had the time of my life doing individual prayer ministry at the altar after Pastor Myers spoke. He asked one of the other speakers, Carole Baerg, to pray for people. Pastor Max had used a set of jumper cables to make a point in his sermon that God wants to “jump start” us with his power so that we can “start stuff.” So he held onto one end of the jumper cables while Carole and I held the other end and prayed for a line of people. The Lord began to speak through prophetic prayer and the line got longer and longer. We prayed for two hours and watched the Holy Spirit touch many men, women and even children. I have never prayed with jumper cables before---and I am sure the power of God had nothing to do with those wires! But it was a great illustration of what God wants to do in our lives.
** It was a joy to meet Carole Baerg and to minister with her. She was the first person to experience a healing during the Toronto Blessing revival back in the mid-1990s. She had been in bed for 20 years, dying of an immune disorder. Since she was healed she has been traveling around the world speaking about the joy of the Lord. If you ever get a chance to hear her, you will be encouraged.
** On Sunday an awesome miracle occurred during the service while a young evangelist named Jamie Galloway was speaking. Jamie has traveled with healing evangelist Randy Clark and is a great example of what God is doing among the younger generation. When he finished his message a disturbed teenager rose from his seat in the back of the auditorium and began to badger and taunt Jamie, saying, “Stop doing this to these people! You have to stop!” He obviously was being manipulated by demons, but Jamie remained calm and began to bind the spirits. Pastor Max and I jumped out of our seats and ran over to pray, as did some other men.
** Within a few minutes, the young man (whose name was Andrew) was sobbing on the carpet while Jamie rubbed his back. The devils were gone. After regaining composure, he took the microphone, choked back tears and testified that he wanted to know Jesus but couldn’t control his anger. Everyone in the place cheered, then they swarmed to the stage to give him a hug. Andrew walked out of that church a different person—all because he encountered the raw power of God. Pastor Max told me that a relative (who has only recently been visiting the church) reported Monday that Andrew spoke in tongues the rest of the afternoon after his deliverance.
